Church building
We currently are renting an old historic Catholic church that houses our Sunday services, mid-week meetings, and offices. Because the building is very small we find it difficult to adequately keep all of our ministries running smoothly. Additionally, the church was built without any heating system, so while we have purchased a mobile heating unit we find it impossible to keep the building heated for any length of time due to the fact that the building is so old. Furthermore, we have a great desire to open a Christian education center, which would house, among other educational services, a Christian daycare center, preschool, and school providing families with an option of educating their children according to biblical principles. It is very rare for Protestant churches to own their own buildings because while Roman Catholic churches are able to receive aid from the government that same aid is not extended to congregations outside of the Roman Catholic Church.
Literature
Realizing the importance of Christian literature in assisting proper Christian growth we strive to make literature available to the believers in Croatia by organizing a small team of people within the church who are in charge of translation, editing and publishing of books. Apart from the few books that have been written or translated into Croatian, there is very little Christian literature available in the Croatian language. Because we find it very inexpensive to print books and teaching materials we have begun a ministry specifically for translation and printing.
Bible Institute
Spirit Life Institute was launched by Dr. F. Dean Hackett in 2002 as an arm of Spirit Life Ministries International. The Institute is a 3-year program and is designed to disciple new believers and train them for ministry. To learn more about Spirit Life Institute visit our institute site. The financial needs of the Spirit Life Institute are books for the library and office equipment.
Evangelism
Many regions of Croatia remain unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ forcing us to seek creative evangelistic approaches. Apart from our weekly street evangelism, where we hand out tracks and share our testimonies, we evangelize through concerts, drama, and special outreach services. We hold an annual festival called, “Days of Reformation” during which we celebrate the Reformation brought about by Martin Luther. Furthermore, the prayer and fasting ministry is vital to the foundation of what we do. Every day of each month an individual from our church chooses to fast and pray for the ministry, the unsaved, and upcoming evangelistic events.
Mercy ministry
In 2005 our brother Mladen Justinić was burdened with desire to reach out to the widows, needy, and infirmed and thus he began Mercy Ministry - an outreach ministry to visit the widows, feed and clothe the needy, and visit shut-ins and those in hospitals. A year later he went home to be with his Savior but the ministry continues under the direction of others who also have a burden to help those who cannot help themselves. Mercy Ministry seeks to visit local hospitals, the elderly, widowed, orphaned, and shut-ins; as well as assist the poor with bills, food and clothing. The greatest need of this ministry is food. Croatia's social welfare system does not operate well, giving the church a prime opportunity to obey God’s command.
